Jameis Winston got into a brawl, so let’s look at his baseball stats

#t=33

It’s March, so the mainstream American sports fan has long forgotten about Jameis Winston. And no, this isn’t a story about spring football.

Winston, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, also plays baseball for Florida State and Tuesday night he was involved in a diamond brawl against Florida (see above). There is little evidence to suggest Winston threw or was hit by a punch, as some early reportsindicated, but the quarterback/relief pitcher was definitelyin the middle of the skirmish as this Florida Times-Union photo indicates.

Soooo … there’s not much more to this story. Although, that reminds us that we should definitely look at Winston’s stats on the diamond so farthis season for the 19-5 Seminoles, ranked first or second overall in the nation (depending on your poll).

Winston has a sparkling 0.69 (insert Billy Madison “Ahahaha, 69!” joke here) ERA in eight appearances in 2014. In those eight appearances he has four saves – which leads the team. He has allowed six hits, one earned run and has struck out 13 batters. If you’re going to get on Winston for anything baseball-related you can point to his performance at the plate. In limited offensive action, he’s batting just .211 this season with a .318 OBP.
