So, what was the big issue again about holding the Super Bowl in New York?
Because NFL fans and corporate suits would have to wear a couple extra layers of clothes for a few days? Boo, bleepin’ hoo.
The fact of the matter is, there are few places in this country more equipped to hold a Super Bowl than NYC. Would media members and fans really, truly rather be in podunk Jacksonville instead right now, where the climate is decidedly blah in late January/early February anyway, where everything is spread out dozens and dozens of miles apart and where the bars close at midnight? Would they really rather be in a city that doesn’t have enough cabs to host a comic book convention over a city that has yellow moving vehicles as far as the eye can see?
So far, speaking from a distance, it seems as though the Super Bowl is just fine in the hands of New York. So … what now to discuss?
Oh, ya. As famous as the taxi cab is in New York, the strip parlor is just as prominent. And with hundreds of current and former pro athletes in town this week, strip club talk is taking over. Just hours after the Broncos touched down in Manhattan, Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman was spotted at Sin City Cabaret in The Bronx.
Tuesday, at Media Day, someone that I’m guessing doesn’t know Richard Sherman from Richard “The Lionheart” and probably is a full-time employee at CNN asked the Seahawks cornerback this doozy:
“As far as money’s concerned, all of you football guys going into these clubs and throwing money, raining down on these strippers, I think that’s a bad example for our young ladies. How can we stop that? Cause I think it’s a bad example that they need to be strippers. How do we deal with that issue?”
