His 65th birthday should have been spent with family and close friends but instead a senseless act two years ago has shattered his life and his family forever.
The wife of the victim beaten Aug. 21, 2008, while out on a late-night walk spoke on his birthday yesterday at the scene where their lives were changed forever when he was found seven hours after the brutal beating.
“My life as I knew it was forever changed that day,” Maureen said, asking withhold her last name.
“I lost my life partner as I knew him, my children lost a father, my grandchildren lost a grandfather and his sisters’ a brother. He will never come home.”
Even after two years, Maureen is very emotional about the impact the tragedy has had on their family as they struggle to come to terms with the ordeal both emotionally and financially.
She hopes the people responsible for the attack come forward.
“I hope they’re found, but it’s not going to bring my husband back.”
