Police arrest pair of robbery suspects

Ottawa police have arrested and charged two people in connection with three bank robberies last month.

After an investigation, city police charged a 24-year-old Ottawa man in relation to a December bank robbery.

On Dec. 15, officers responded to a bank robbery at the Scotiabank in the 3300 block of McCarthy Road.

Police said the suspect allegedly passed a note to a teller making a demand for cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

David Beauregard was released from police custody yesterday and will appear in court Feb. 23.

Police have also charged an Ottawa teen in connection with two west-end bank robberies in December. On Dec. 29, police responded to a bank robbery at the TD Canada Trust branch in the 1400 block of Richmond Road.

A police investigation revealed the same suspect had allegedly been at the TD Canada Trust branch in the Bayshore Mall earlier that day. Police charged a 14-year-old male with attempt to commit indictable offence, robbery, wearing a disguise and uttering death threats. He cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
