Police find guns, ammo, fireworks after pulling over speeding car in the Bronx

Two men were arrested and charged earlier this week after police pulled their speeding car over in the Bronx and found an arsenal of illegal items, according to authorities.

On Feb. 17 at about 9:30 p.m. Sergeant Victor Villalobos and Police Officer Wilber Martinez, who are assigned to the Bronx Housing Impact Response Team, were in their police car near 1020 Soundview Ave. when they saw a white sedan speed part them, according to police.

The officers stopped the car — which was missing both its front and rear bumpers — and when they approached the vehicle they saw a round of ammunition on the floor behind the driver’s seat, cops said.

After further investigation police recovered five firearms, one BB gun, 10 ammunition magazines, one speedloader, about 240 rounds of ammunition in various sizes — four of which were hollow-point, according to police.

An assortment of fireworks and a small quantity of marijuana was also found.

Both the driver and passenger — who had a suspended driver’s license and an open warrant, respectively — were placed under arrest and an addition five rounds were taken from the passenger, authorities said.

The driver, 21-year-old Justin Reyes from the Bronx, was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation, unlawful possession of fireworks, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle equipment violations.

Passenger Marco Lugo, 20, from Texas was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of fireworks and unlawful possession of marijuana.
