Authorities have identified a 44-year-old woman killed outside a party at a Lowell apartment while her special-needs son watched.

GloribelOrengo of Lowell died from injuries suffered in a fight Saturday near the Pawtucket Boulevard apartment, after she was asked to leave a party, Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said.

Police were dispatched to the home shortly after 11 p.m., where they found Orengo, with injuries, in the street. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Orengo was reportedly visiting a friend at the apartment and was accompanied by her adult son, who has Down syndrome, WCVB reported. Police found the son holding his dying mother when they arrived.

The cause of death has not been determined and authorities are still investigating the death, which they have ruled a homicide.
