Police lauded at ceremony

Hundreds gathered at the legislature grounds yesterday to commemorate Albertan peace and police officers who have died while in the line of duty.

Family members, government, provincial and municipal police association representatives stood at attention for over an hour in tribute to the 94 dead since 1876.

Lloyd and Noella Lundblad put down a wreath for their son, Const. James Lundblad of the RCMP’s traffic services unit in Camrose.

The 41-year-old died this past May when his marked RCMP vehicle collided with a grain truck, about 53 kilometres south of Edmonton.
