Police lay charges in two weekend robberies

There were two robberies Saturday resulting in separate charges against two men.

In one incident, Halifax Regional Police say a man entered a Dartmouth pharmacy in the 100 block of Portland Street at 1:45 p.m. They say the man threatened the staff with a knife, demanded all the narcotics in the pharmacy, and fled on foot.

A 53-year-old man was arrested nearby and has been charged with robbery. Police say there were no injuries and that all stolen items were recovered.

Earlier Saturday, police say just before 1 a.m. a man came into a convenience store, located in the 100 block of Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth, and asked the clerk for cigarettes.

Police say when the man was asked how we was going to pay, he jumped up on the counter and yelled at the clerk to put the cigarettes in a bag and not to press any buttons.

Police say the man fled on foot with the bag and no weapon was seen.

A 26-year-old man was arrested just after 4 a.m. by patrolling members. The suspect was charged with robbery.
