Police on hunt for two armed carjackers

Police are looking for two suspects after two Drayton Valley men were carjacked at gunpoint early yesterday morning.

Police said the two men were sitting in their minivan in a parking lot near the corner of Highway 22 and 50 Street in Drayton Valley when two unknown men, one of them holding a knife to the passenger through an open window, demanded the victims turn over their vehicle.

A struggle ensued and both victims suffered cuts to their hands, police said. The passenger finally escaped while the driver continued to struggle with the two assailants.

One of the attackers was holding a rifle and hit the driver in the head with the butt, causing it to fire in the air. The driver suffered a cut to the head. Both victims were treated and released from hospital and neither of them could help police with descriptions of their attackers.
