Police pursuit ends in charges against teens

Ottawa police charged two men following a police pursuit on Bank Street and Walkley Road Monday.

At 11 a.m., Ottawa police observed a red Chrysler Intrepid in the area of Bank and Walkley streets that matched the description of one reported stolen earlier in the day. Police said yesterday the driver of the vehicle failed to stop for police and a pursuit ensued.

A short distance later, the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a tree and ended up against a house on Anoka Street.

Two men now face charges including possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and fail to stop for police/pursuit.

Samuel Berlinguette, 19, and Ahmed Hassan, 18, both of Ottawa, appeared in court yesterday.
