Police searching for ‘polite’ robber

Norwood police are looking for a machete-wielding, yet polite, robber with “brown, puppy-dog eyes.”

The man robbed a Sunoco convenience store about 8:45 p.m. July 26.

Police posted surveillance video and pictures of the suspect online this week.

“Give me all the money in the register,” the robber said, according to the surveillance tape.

Then he makes other demands.

“Five packs of Newports (cigarettes),” he tells the clerk. “Give me a ton of scratch tickets, too. I want all the $20 ones.”

Before he leaves, he makes sure to mind his manners.

“All right. Have a good night. Thank you,” he said.

Despite brandishing a large machete, police said he did not get away with any scratch tickets.

They described him as a white man, about 25 years old and 5-foot-11. He has dark hair and brown eyes.

Police said they believe a getaway driver was waiting in an older, dark-colored Toyota Corolla with no hub caps.
