Police seek help after homeless man found beaten in Charlestown

Authorities are turning to the public for help finding the person or persons responsible for beating a homeless man and leaving him at a popular Charlestown park.

The 45-year-old man was found by state police Monday afternoon on a fishing pier at Paul Revere Park. He was suffering from a head injury and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

“The investigation thus far suggests he had been assaulted the night before. State police are investigating because the park is state property,” the Suffolk district attorney’s office said in a statement.

Because the park is a popular spot for dog owners and fishermen, authorities are asking anyone who was in that area Sunday evening to come forward with information no matter how minor it may seem.

Police ask anyone who may have seen a person or persons in the area of the pier that night to call 617-727-8817.
