Police veteran Charles Bordeleau named deputy chief

A 26-year-veteran of the Ottawa Police Service has been named the force’s new deputy chief of police.

Charles Bordeleau, who was most recently superintendent of the emergency operations division, will fill the deputy chief position that Sue O’Sullivan left vacant when she took on a new post as federal ombudsman for victims of crime earlier this month.

Bordeleau’s appointment is the culmination of a month-and-a-half-long internal search conducted by the Police Services Board.

Bordeleau, who is fluently bilingual, has also served as the superintendent in charge of east division and inspector overseeing patrol in central division.
