The Purple Line from Fitchburg to the Hub is getting millions in upgrades with the help of federal money for the improvements, according to MassDOT Secretary Rich Davey.
Yesterday, Davey was joined by Federal Transit Administrator Peter Rogoff to announce the $75 million in “FTA New Starts” funding for the Commuter Rail project.
The upgrades will reduce travel times while expanding service to under served regions.
The project is expected to create more than 250 jobs, according to MassDOT officials.
