Pot signage motion irks store owner

The owner of a Sherwood Park convenience store feels his business will suffer if pending county restrictions govern how he sells pipes and bongs.

“It would definitely put a big dent in business,” Molly’s Mini Mart owner Dale Willis said yesterday.

A motion by councillors Jason Gariepy and Peter Wlodarczak will be introduced at a Strathcona County council meeting tonight, that, if passed, would force merchants to hide drug paraphernalia and restrict sale to areas more than 200 metres away from property lines, schools, parks, rec centres and churches.

Willis would be forced to tear down pot-gear signage erected on public land along Brentwood Boulevard under impending land-use amendments.
