Registered voters see Trump as reckless, dishonest, sensitive: Poll

A greater number of registered voters in the country see President Trump as reckless, dishonest and sensitive, according to a new poll by Politico.

Politico/Morning Consult asked 1988 registered voters how they feel about President Trump.  The voters were asked if certain characteristics are associated with President Trump ranging from “trustworthy” to “sexist” to “compassion.” The poll was conducted over the span of five days, from October 19 – 23 and has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points, according to Politico. According to the poll, 56 percent of voters in the country believe President Trump is “reckless,” while 31 percent believe he isn’t.

Only 35 percent of participants in the poll used the word “honest” to describe President Trump, compared to 51 percent of voters who chose not to use honest to describe the president.

Many Americans, however, believe President Trump is sensitive and easily offended. The results of the Politico poll show 52 percent of American voters think President Trump is thin-skinned, compared to the 33 percent who probably feel the commander in chief is tough as nails and couldn’t be rattled by anything or anyone at all.

When people were asked if they consider President Trump as a strong leader, only 39 percent of people agreed, while 50 percent of the people who took the poll think Trump’s not a strong leader for the country.

When it comes to topics such as sexism and racism, half of the people who took the poll think President Trump sexist and 45 percent think he is a racist.

Considering only 1,988 people were given the Politico/Morning Consult poll, the results only provide a small look at how one slice of people in America feel about the president.

Some of the results may not come to a surprise to many people because of his overall approval rating. At the time the poll was conducted, President Trump’s approval rating remained at 36 percent, according to Gallup. The president has an overall average rating of 39 percent as of October 2017.
