Prince Andrew scheduled to visit troops in Halifax

A real prince is rolling into Halifax this Thursday, and it’s not the R&B artist responsible for Purple Rain.

It’s Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and colonel-in-chief of The Princess Louise Fusiliers.

He’s stopping by the Halifax Citadel at 7 p.m. to check out the regiment’s trooping of the colour, the Department of National Defence announced Sunday. The ceremony will take place at the Halifax Armoury if the weather is bad.

The department describes trooping the colour “as part of preparation before battle, so that all members of a regiment would be able to recognize the flags which marked the rallying points.”
