Pringles, wine, destruction found inside Brighton church

A can of Pringles, a bag of Tostitos, a bottle of wine and a lot of destruction was left behind inside a Brighton church last week and Boston police are asking for the public’s help to identify the people they think caused the damage.

Police released surveillance images of the three suspects on Monday. The suspects appear young and the group includes at least one man and one woman.

Officers were called to Our Lady of Presentation on Washington Street at about 11 a.m. Nov. 27 for a report of a breaking and entering. The witness told officers that people damaged three doors and entered the church sometime between 3 p.m. on Nov. 23 and 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 25.

Police said that the floor of the church was covered with residue from fire extinguishers that were set off. Also, an oil painting of the Pope was cut up and defaced with phrases including “Devil’s Star,” “[Expletive] God” and “Scooby Doo.” Other items inside the church were damaged or moved, police said.

Officers also found snack food, including chips, soda and a bottle of Italian wine left at the church.

Detectives are investigating.
