Prospect Park will be closed for six hours this Friday due to security associated with President Barack Obama’s visit to a Crown Heights school.
Obama is visiting Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH), which he praised in his State of the Union address earlier this year.
All 585 acres of the park will be shut down from noon to 6 p.m., according to the Prospect Park Alliance website.
P-TECH is approximately two miles away from the park, where helicopters landed in a ball field earlier this week as part of a security drill.
Prospect Park is home to several playgrounds, a zoo, a carousel, meadows, a lake and 250 acres of woodlands.
Obama highlighted P-TECH in his speech in February as a model school for preparing students for jobs in today’s economy.
The six-year program allows students to graduate with an associate’s degree in engineering or computers in addition to a high school diploma.
