Haven’t we all had a Donald Trump-related fever dream by now? “Forbidden Broadway” alum Charles Osborne has had enough of them to make an “all-singing, all-dancing, highly gay” musical.
“Charles Osborne’s Trumped-Up Birthday Fever Dream”is what happens when a makeover goes horribly wrong, leaving show creator and star Osborne looking like the tangerine-colored ruler of the (increasingly less) free world. His anxiety spirals down into politically themed hallucinations featuring Melania Trump’s gospel-style lament about trading her glamorous life for slumming it as first lady and, in a performance surely worth the ticket price alone, Vladimir Putin has his own golden shower moment a la “Flashdance.” RELATED: No More Black Targets uses art to fight gun violence “New York has been in such a strange place since the election, we really felt like we had to do something,” says Osborne. “And we think right now what New York needs to do most is laugh. Take action, but laugh.” This one-night-only musical will take place March 1 at 10 p.m. at the Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 W. 42nd St.), with proceeds going to the ACLU — because while Osborne does eventually wake up, the rest of us are stuck in this nightmare, and they’re the ones fighting on the front lines. Tickets are $20, plus a $20 food and drink minimum.
