I’m sure most people who visit the set of “Game of Thrones” make a beeline for the Iron Throne and plop their butts down on it. I’ve certainly seen plenty of photos of people beaming out from amidst the deadly swords. However, the one person who might actually know what it takes to hold it wanted no part of it: Queen Elizabeth declined to sit on the Iron Throne.

The Queen of England visited the “Game of Thrones” set with her husband Prince Philip as part of her tour of Northern Ireland. She met cast members including Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow), and beheld the Iron Throne, but apparently did not hop up onto it. I suppose it wouldn’t be much of a thrill for someone with a real throne of her very own – one she’s managed to hold for decades, without the aid of a single dragon (unless you count the corgis).

Just you wait till Prince Harry visits the “Game of Thrones” crew, though. He’ll probably play strip poker atop the throne.
