The New York Fire Department fought a blaze in Queens after a possible explosion on Monday, according to reports.

The two-alarm fire raged on the third floor of 162-05 89th Ave. in Jamaica, according to the FDNY.

Initially, it was reported more than 100 firefighters battled a fire affecting 25 units in the building, but authorities said they were able to contain the fire to one apartment.

The cause remains under investigation, but preliminary reports indicate that a seemingly emotionally disturbed man started the fire. The 29-year-old suspect in custody was the only person injured in the fire and has been taken to an area hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition, an NYPD spokesman said.
