An Elderly man was killed early Sunday morning after a fire ripped through his home in Queens early Sunday morning.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. firefighters responded to a blaze on the first floor of a two and a half story home at 25-07 87th Street in East Elmhurst, Queens, according to police.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered an 88 year-old man unconscious and unresponsive on the first floor with severe burns about his body. EMS declared the man to be dead at the scene, according to FDNY. The name of the victim has not been released. An investigation has been launched to determine the man’s identity and cause of the fire.
