Queens rapper Chinx killed in shooting

Queens rapper Chinx killed in shooting

Lionel “Chinx” Pickens, a rapper from Far Rockaway, was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning which left one other person critically injured, according to police.

The shooting happened just after 4 a.m. on Sunday morning at the corner of Queens Boulevard and 84th Drive.

WABCreported that the rapper was driving west on Queens Boulevard when a second car pulled up and opened fire into the car.

Pickens, 31, was taken to Jamaica Medical Center before being pronounced dead.

The biography on Pickens’ website says,”Raised in Far Rockaway, he was surrounded by a level of poverty that drove people into drugs, the ghetto and the streets. While divulging into that lifestyle personally, music gave him an outlet to convey his experiences, his fears and his ambition.”

His management at Legion Media Group wrote online this morning, “It is with a heavy heart that The Legion Media Group and 4 Kings Management announce the passing of Lionel “Chinx” Pickens this morning. He was 31.Few details are available about his passing but his management confirmed his passing this morning.”

“The rapper from Queens, New York was a member of French Montana’s Coke Boys,” said the statement,”Chinx’s dedication, humor and vision will always be remembered.”

The investigation is ongoing, according to police. So far no arrests have been made.
