Rachel Uchitel is kind of being a horrible person about 9/11

Rachel Uchitel might have a little bit of a PR crisis on her hands.

The hostess-turned-Tiger-Woods-mistress was quoted in Page Six today giving her, let’s say “unconventional” opinion about September 11. Uchitel, you may remember, first came to prominence ten years ago as the grieving fiancee of victim James Andrew O’Grady, an investment banker. Here’s what she had to say:

“I believe Andy was meant to die because he was too good,” she tells Page Six Magazine, in The Post on Thursday. “I’m almost happy it ended the way it did because I’ve learned so many lessons from him. It would have been tragic if we got into fights and then divorced. … I would be a fat housewife with three kids in Sands Point, LI.”

Granted, there is that “almost” in there that keeps the sentiment from being completely narcissistic and sociopathic, but still: Self-awareness, lady! You are not the only person in the world, and though a generally negative event may have had unforeseen positive repercussions for you personally, celebrating those positives publicly is a little heartless to those who only got the negative. Which is another way of saying, don’t ever say somebody was “meant to die,” because that makes you sound like a dick.
