Raider’s McNeill wins weekly CHL award

TORONTO – Mark McNeill of the Prince Albert Raiders was named the Canadian Hockey League’s player of the week Tuesday.

McNeill scored five goals and had three assists in three games with a plus-7 rating.

The 18-year-old forward was taken in the first round of the last year’s NHL draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.

He has 23 goals and 32 assists in 47 games this season.

Tobias Rieder of the Kitchener Rangers and Alex Micallef of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada were also considered for the award.

The weekly goaltender award went to Mark Visentin of the Niagara IceDogs.

Visentin was perfect through two games with consecutive shutouts. He hasn’t been scored on in three games.

The 19-year-old Phoenix Coyotes prospect has a 2.29 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage this season.
