Ralph Lauren’s NYFW show featured 100,000 orchids
Ralph Lauren is letting you shop the runway — literally. For his New York Fashion Week show, the iconic designer once again turned to his Madison Avenue flagship store, this time transforming the space into a greenhouse complete with a living wall. But we’re not just talking some pretty vines and air plants; this is Ralph Lauren, a man who shut down Madison Avenue last season. Every single space on the first and second floors of the massive store was covered in gorgeous white orchids — 100,000 or so! — pretty greenery and cute animatronic butterflies.
The installation transformed the store into stunning enchanted forest — the perfect backdrop to showcase Lauren’s clothes for the woman who has “a nomadic spirit and exotic sophistication.”
And what does this globetrotter want to wear? Silky gold dresses; leopard-print wedge heels; bold, tribal-inspired necklaces; chic, beige blazers and show-stopping, jewel-toned gowns.
The best part of this elaborate setup is that from Thursday, Feb.16 through Monday, Feb. 20, the public can pop into 888 Madison AVE. and buy the collection straight from its runway habitat. Shoppers can admire the living wall, or you know, snap a selfie in front of the most gorgeous backdrop at NYFW.
