RCMP investigate two Saturday night stabbings

Halifax District RCMP dealt with two stabbings overnight Saturday involving teenagers.

The first took place in Lower Sackville as police investigate a stabbing that sent an 18-year-old male to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they initially responded to a report of a disturbance at Churchill Downs Centre at 11:07 p.m. and upon arriving were told by a witness a teenager was stabbed and taken to hospital by friends.

No arrests have been made.

About 90 minutes later, RCMP responded to a residence on Norway Maple Drive in Timberlea as an 18-year-old male showed up stating he had been stabbed.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say an investigation revealed there was an altercation between the victim and the suspect on a trail behind St. Margarets Bay Road.

Sunday morning, an 18-year-old male suspect turned himself into police. He was released and will appear in Halifax provincial court July 29 charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.
