Re-branding the Convention Centre

With work underway to demolish the building, the Ottawa Congress Centre will come back under a new name with a new logo.

Branded as Canada’s meeting place, the new building will be called the Ottawa Convention Centre.

The new name more accurately conveys the product they are attempting to sell to American and international customers and businesses.

“We will now be able to market Ottawa very effectively in the United States and very effectively in Europe,” said Jim Durrell, chair of the OCC board. “We couldn’t do that before. Our centre was way too small and quite frankly we just weren’t in the game.”

The new, tulip-like logo reflects the building’s unique design and the flower that has come to represent the city.

The colours of blue, green and red were chosen to reflect the nearby rivers and proximity to the Rideau Canal, the green space in the capital, and Ottawa’s place as the national capital.
