Real estate: A feeling we’re not in Kansas

In Topeka, Kansas, $300,000 can buy you a 4,200-square-foot home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms. Not in Boston. Metro surveyed three Boston-area neighborhoods to see what’s available for $300,000. One thing’s for sure: The farther out of the city, the more space for the price. In Beacon Hill, for example, units are on the market for more than $850 per square foot compared to Chelsea, where each square foot is about $157.
