Red-haired subway rider threatens man with knife: NYPD

Police are looking for a man with “red, flat top-style hair” who they say tried to rob two straphangers using sharp weapons.

The bright-haired suspect first targeted a 22-year-old man on a northbound C train as it was approaching West 155th Street at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to authorities, the suspect took out a knife and demanded the victim’s cellphone. The victim then tried to grab the knife, was cut on his hand, and fled at the West 155 Street subway station with his phone. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he received stitches.

On Tuesday, at about 3 a.m., the same man is suspected of attempting to rob another subway rider. The 37-year-old victim was asleep on a northbound 4 train when he felt a tug on his pants, cops said. He then awoke and saw the suspect standing over him holding a razor in his hand as his jean pocket was being cut.

He tried to restrain the suspect and was punch in the face, according to police. The suspect then fled the train at the 51st Street stop before taking any property.

In addition to his red, flat top-style hair, police also described the suspect as black, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, with a thin build.
