Red Sox go from worst to first, win 2016 American League East title

After losing 91 games in 2014 and 84 games last year, the Red Sox have reversed course in 2016 and are this year’s American League East champions.

The Sox celebrated a division title Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium after Toronto fell to Baltimore, 3-2. The Red Sox actually blew a 3-0 lead against the Yankees and lost when Mark Teixeira belted walk-off a grand slam. In essence, both the Yankees and Red Sox were celebrating in New York Wednesday.

They will participate in an American League Division Series beginning next week.
