Red Sox move over .500 for first time this season

The Red Sox (25-24) moved over the .500 mark for the first time this season with a 6-3 win over Detroit at Fenway Park Tuesday night.

Daniel Nava’s double to left off of reigning MVP Justin Verlander brought home Mike Aviles and Scott Podsednik in the fourth inning to give Boston a 4-0 advantage.

David Ortiz stopped a Tigers rally, headed by the bat of Prince Fielder, with a solo shot to left in the seventh to give the Red Sox a 6-3 lead.

Daniel Bard picked up the win for Boston while Alfredo Aceves recorded his 12th save of the season.

It was the longest the Red Sox have taken in a season to get over the .500 mark since the 1996 campaign.
