Deciding what to do with all those Air Miles? A monthly transit pass, maybe?
An innovative one-year pilot project unveiled Thursday in Edmonton offers ETS and Air Miles customers an opportunity to buy an adult monthly pass using their Air Miles reward miles.
Coun. Armarjeet Sohi said on Thursday at the launch the Air Miles and ETS collaboration was a “win-win” for everybody, including the environment.
“I think it’s a great way for helping people who might be looking for other modes of transportation but might not be able to afford to buy the bus pass at this time because of the difficult economic times,” said Coun. Sohi.
The project is aimed at encouraging Air Miles collectors to be environmentally friendly by riding on ETS.
An ETS monthly pass can be redeemed for 650 reward miles by visiting takeETS.com, after which Air Miles sends the pass directly to the customer before the end of the month, according to a release from the city.
Edmonton is the first city in Western Canada to team up with Air Miles on the initiative. Toronto was the first in Canada to sign-on to the partnership.
