Mike Killeen and Tamara Taggart will replace Bill Good and Pamela Martin as the new anchors of CTV’s evening local newscast, the network revealed yesterday morning.
“To be able to get this opportunity in your hometown is a pretty huge honour,” said Taggart, currently weathercaster for CTV News at Six. “We’re over the moon.”
The pair were informed of the promotion a little while ago and told only their spouses. Taggart admits it was a tough secret to keep.
“I didn’t tell my kids until last night,” said Killeen, the network’s Olympic reporter for the past six years. “They’ve been wondering what the heck has been going on because dad has been behaving a little strangely the last little while.”
The pair, he said, would continue — in the model of Good and Martin — to be active in the newscast’s editorial process.
“That’s not going to change … every day we’ll be working hard to continue building this newscast.”
