We all know that the average weight of Americans is at all time high, but apparently our stomachs aren’t the only things expanding.
According to a new study by Intimacy, the national bra size has increased by three cup sizes over the last 30 years — from 1983’s average of a 34B, to today’s average of a 34DD.
This trend, although drastic, is actually not quite surprising. In fact, Florence Williams wrote a whole book about it last year, “Breasts: A Natural and Unnatural History.”
This growth has prompted the American market to carry bigger sizes. A spokesperson told Racked that in the past, “women with bigger breasts squeezed into bras that were two or more cup sizes too small.”
