A report obtained by ABC News brings to light a number of George Zimmerman’s injuries which had previously not been revealed.
According to the report, Zimmerman, who faces a second degree murder charge for shooting Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, was diagnosed with a “closed fracture” of his nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury, the day after he shot Martin.
Zimmerman has claimed self defense, describing the altercation as a life and death struggle. He was granted a $150,000 bail.
ABC got ahold of a number of documents including Zimmerman’s three-page medical report. Other documents include video of Martin on the night of the shooting, his autopsy report and video of Zimmerman’s questioning by the police.
According to the reports Zimmerman suffered bruising to his upper lip and cheek as well as lower back pain. He was treated at the offices of a general physician near Sanford, Fla. The reports also indicate that Zimmerman declined hospitalization the night of the shooting. He also did not follow doctors’ advice in making a follow-up appointment with an ear and nose specialist.
ABC reports that Zimmerman was also prescribed Adderall and Temazepam, which can cause side effects such as mood swings and agitation in fewer than 10 percent of patients.
