Report: Jets looking to trade Wayne Hunter

The Jets appear to be hunting for a new right tackle.

The Daily News is reporting the Jets are looking to trade tackle Wayne Hunter. Hunter, who has been much maligned by Jets fans, allowed 11 sacks last season, third-most in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. He also committed the fourth-most penalties by a tackle.

Hunter will be entering his ninth season in the league this fall, but had never been a starter until this past season with the Jets. He had played well at the end of last season, filling in for an injured Damien Woody. But when Woody retired last offseason, Hunter struggled stepping into the full-time starting role.

The Jets signed Hunter to a four-year deal last year, before he took over that full-time job.

The Jets have no one waiting in the wings to take over for Hunter though, which may save his job. Vlad Ducasse, who was drafted in the second round in 2010, has been an unequivocal disaster at any position on the line.
