Report: MTA worker scares off rapist in Bowery station

An MTA worker scared off an alleged rapist underground, according to a new report.

A 36-year-old woman was reportedly being beaten and raped at the J train Bowery stop early Wednesday morning.

The attack, which an MTA spokesman confirmed, happened around 1 a.m. According to the Daily News, it was interrupted when the woman saw the light of an MTA worker. She reportedly then screamed, and the man ran off.

Police arrested Michael Torres, 29, Thursday and charged him with rape and assault.

Cops said he threatened her with a screwdriver.
