Research links childhood diets with adult obesity

Research done by the University of Calgary shows childhood diets may have a profound influence on adult obesity.

The kinesiology study says adults having trouble keeping weight off might have eaten too many fatty foods – when they were toddlers.

“This research shows for the first time that our early childhood diet may have a huge impact on our health as adults,” researcher Raylene Reimer stated.

The research was published in an international medical journal connecting adult’s weight with early childhood diet.

Reimer goes on to say that pre-natal and early childhood influence on the genes that control how bodies store and use nutrients influences future diabetes and obesity risks.

“There’s a growing body of work that indicates a relationship between our health as adults and our early diet, and even our mother’s diet,” Reimer added.
