Residents search for attackers

Residents of a small town south of Edmonton have banded together to find persons of interest sought in an attempted murder investigation.

Dale Scott says his 19-year-old nephew was trying to break up a fight outside a convenience store in Beaumont early Friday night, when he was stabbed four times.

Thankfully, his wounds were shallow, Scott said, adding he’s grateful his nephew survived the attack, but not surprised it happened.

“This would have shocked me five years ago, but not now,” Scott said.

Police have released photos of two women considered persons of interest, and the description of an older, two-toned pickup truck. It’s believed three men and two women left in the truck after the stabbing.

Since the images were made public, Scott says he has received a number of tips from concerned residents, eager to bring his nephew’s attackers to justice.

“They didn’t stab my nephew, they stabbed Beaumont,” he said. “We’ve been here for 32 years. We’ve grown our family here.”
