North Brooklyn residents are calling for a more “robust” response from the city for massive fires such as the one that tore through the CitiStorage warehouse in Williamsburg last weekend.

According to a petition started by Emily Gallagher on the website Change.org, it took the city more than 15 hours to issue a public health advisory.

“Residents downwind have been complaining about foul odors, sore throats, headaches, and even the insides of their homes reeking of smoke,” the petition reads.

The seven-alarm fire is expected to smoulder through the end of the week, and scattered charred documents from city agencies and private corporations continue to be found throughout the neighborhood.

The petition calls for an emergency air plan and investigation of other recent industrial fires.

As of Tuesday evening nearly 120 people had signed the petition.
