Restos key to growth: Group

The president and CEO of the Canadian Restaurants and Foodservices Association says fostering small business is key to leading Nova Scotia out of what he calls a recession.

Garth Whyte made the comments during a speech at yesterday’s meeting of the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities in Sydney.

Whyte is pushing for municipalities to work closely with small businesses, many of which belong to the province’s $1.6-billion restaurant industry.

CRFA says the restaurant industry — with more than 30,000 workers — is one of the largest employers in the province.
