Revere police released photographs of two dead puppies on Facebook(Note: this link contains images that some readers may find disturbing)in the hope of finding the people who threw them out like yesterday’s garbage.

“Although they are graphic, we are releasing pictures of the puppies in hopes that someone will recognize them and assist in the investigation,” police wrote Sunday.

A landscaper found the dogs Saturday behind a Sunoco gas station on North Shore Road.

The pitbull mixes both have cropped tails, police said, and are estimated to be between six and eight weeks old.

The Animal Rescue League took the puppies for further investigation, police said.

Social media users expressed outrage on Facebook.

I am equally angry and heartbroken. Someone would have taken those poor pups, no need for that. Disgusting people,” wrote Pam McCulsh.

Facebook user Brian White weighed in, saying “very sad. RIP The person or persons responsible will pay one way or another for their actions.”

Donna Ricciardi Dowling tried to calm the tension, saying, “People need to relax. No one knows how these puppies died. They could have been sick for all we know. Lets just see where this brings us now that they posted the pics. I do have to say the tan pup looks like he or she has bruises. and if someone did do this i hope that find them and punish them fully.”
