Reward offered for starving pit bull

The ASPA is offering a $20,000 reward for information related the the person responsible for zipping up a malnourished pit bull in a suitcase in the South Bronx.

Police officers found the 3-year-old pup was found behind 700 Morris Ave. of the Melrose Houses. The dog was transferred to the ASPCA for treatment.

“This dog was deprived of food and water, then discarded on a city curb as if it were garbage,” Matt Bershadker, president and CEO of the ASPCA, said in a statement. “This kind of cruelty should not be tolerated in New York City, or anywhere.”
