Reward offered in Midtown swastika scrawlings

The Anti-Defamation League announced today that they’re offering a $2,500 award to find whoever scrawled swastikas on four Manhattan storefronts this week.

Four businesses on Sixth Avenue near Bryant Park, including a Penguin clothing shop, found their stores tagged with 12-by-12 inch swastika graffiti on Sunday afternoon.

“We are outraged and dismayed by these despicable anti-Semitic incidents,” said ADL’s New York director, Ron Meier. “They are aimed at intimidating and frightening an entire community.”

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer announced a press conference this afternoon at 2 p.m. near the businesses to decry the violence.

“This incident is not isolated,” Stringer said today. “Anti-Semitic hate crimes are spreading like cancer throughout the five boroughs.”

All the graffiti was done in a white grease pen, the New York Post reported.
