The Jets are 1-5 after Sunday’s loss to the Broncos, but they’re not dead — not mathematically and not according to their head coach.

“The message is pretty simple: We might be counted out but we’re not dead. We’re going to fight our tails off,” head coach Rex Ryan said Monday. “This group is a hard-working group, a resilient bunch. We’re going to put it out there. We’re going to compete.

“As I told our team, ‘A team that doesn’t quit is hard to beat.’ If you’re fighting a guy who doesn’t quit he’s going to be hard to beat. Our guys aren’t quitting.”

Three of the Jets’ five losses this year have been by eight points or less. The Jets would’ve covered the spread against Denver if not for a pick-six with seconds left.

Now they face a quick turnaround, as the Jets play their first divisional game of the season Thursday (8:25 p.m., CBS) in New England.
