Riders weigh in

Three out of five bus riders rate the Lower Mainland’s bus system as good or better, according to a TransLink customer satisfaction survey.
The survey, released as part of TransLink’s 2007 annual report, rated customer satisfaction out of 10, but only reported scores eight or better. It found that 57 per cent of customers gave the bus system a good-to-excellent rating.
By comparison, 93 per cent of West Coast Express riders gave it a rating of good-to-excellent; while 49 per cent of customers thought the overall transit system was good or better.
While overcrowding, on-time reliability and frequency of service irked riders, the survey found people liked the bus because it made them feel safe and offered direct routes.
Surrey MLA Bruce Ralston said bus overcrowding and frequency are closely related.
“I don’t think people are getting the kind of service they want or deserve. And they are paying more for it,” Ralston said.
