RuPaul’s DragCon 2018: Dates, Start time, how to get there

RuPaul’s DragCon 2018 takes place this weekend and for the second year in a row, New Yorkers have the opportunity to meet and interact with the stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race and partake in various activities to celebrate pop culture, art and of course, all things drag.

RuPaul’s DragCon made its debut in 2015 in Los Angeles and in the inaugural New York City convention was held in 2017.

It is the first convention that celebrates the art of drag, queer culture and self-expression and has become one of the largest conventions of its kind RuPaul’s DragCon celebrates people from all walks of life and offers fans the chance to celebrate drag culture with performances and talks and meet and greets with world-famous drag queens. 

The event offers a platform for all ages and backgrounds to meet and interact with celebrities in a friendly and safe environment. According to the RuPaul’s DragCon harassment policy, the convention is “dedicated to providing a harassment-free convention experience for everyone regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.”

When is RuPaul’s DragCon 2018?

RuPaul’s DragCon will take place on September 28, 29 and 30 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. For Friday’s special preview night, doors open at 4 p.m. EST and goes on until 8 p.m.  Events on Saturday and Sunday start at 10 a.m. EST.

According to the official RuPaul’s DragCon 2018 site, there will be dozens of panel events for adults and children and an area where attendees can register to vote.  Additional information about the different events and vendors at RuPaul’s Dragcon 2018 can be found on the convention’s help site.

RuPaul’s DragCon 2018 Tickets

Tickets are still available for RuPaul’s DragCon, but tickets for the VIP Experience are sold out.

Weekend tickets — $70

Saturday or Sunday tickets — $40

Friday ticket  — $20

Kids 10-years-old and younger get in free with an adult ticket.

RuPaul’s DragCon 2018: How to get to Jacob Javits Center by MTA 

The Jacob Javits Convention Center is located at 655 West 34th Street in New York City.  The easiest way to get to the convention center is by taking the 7 Train to 34th Street-Hudson Yards station and walk over to the convention center. You can also take the A, C, E trains to Penn Station and walk to 11th Avenue or take the crosstown M34 bus to the location. For information regarding MTA weekend service changes, visit mta.info
