After an international search for their new leader, the Calgary Board of Education found one in their own backyard.

“I am so honoured to take up the leadership of the Calgary Board of Education,” said Johnson.

Johnson will spend the coming months transitioning into the role and officially start on Aug. 27.

“My work will be to support, lead and provide guidance and direction in order to leverage the core purpose of the organization,” said Johnson.

She said her goal within the schools is to continuing working on the three-year education plan and raising the bar for students.

Johnson said another goal is to confirm people who are in acting positions on the board.
